Without delay,
the newly-appointed Minister of Environment, Mrs. Amina Muhammed and the
Minister of State, Mr. Ibrahim Jubril, on Wednesday formally resumed duty a few
hours after being inaugurated by President Muhammadu Buhari.
In their first
meeting with the management staff of the ministry in Abuja, the ministers
stated that they had a deliverable timeline that requires the total support of
all the stakeholders in the environment sector.
Muhammed said
she and her colleague had been given a mandate to expedite action and bring to
bear positive impact on the lives of the people.
She contended
that given the change agenda of the government, it is incumbent on the
staff to align themselves with the policy agenda to enable them deliver within
the timeframe.
Muhammed:
“Certainly Mr. president has given us a marching order and the change agenda
has come to stay. It is our to get the result in the people’s lives and to
make the difference. There is a timeframe and we have to deliver within the
timeline.”
The Minister of State for Environment, Mr. Ibrahim Jubril, who was more blunt, maintained that that there would be sanctions to any staff who refused to align with the change agenda of the present administration in the environment sector.
