Pimp nabbed after 3 years on the run

A 33-year-old Nigerian man has been re-arrested on charges of human trafficking, the police said in a statement on Thursday.
Five years ago, the Hawks arrested Chinemere Amagwoyi and Prince Agu, 35, for allegedly trafficking two teenagers, then aged 15 and 16 years old, from Johannesburg to East London.
The teenagers were forced to work as prostitutes in Ouigney, but were rescued by a sex worker who hid them at a friend’s house until police picked them up during routine patrols in the area.
Hawks spokesperson Lieutenant Robert Netshiunda said Amagowyi and Agu were due to be tried in April 2012, but failed to turn up for their trial and instead fled the country.
He said warrants for their arrests were issued, and Amagwoyi was re-arrested in February this year after three years on the run.
Amagwoyi is expected to appear in the East London Regional court on Friday where he faces charges of human trafficking and contravening his bail conditions.
Police said they are continuing their search for Agu.
